Dr. Sherrie Lai

Dr. Sherrie Lai grew up in Flushing, N.Y. After graduating as Salutatorian of her class from Bayside High School, she completed her undergraduate studies at Columbia College, Columbia University, where she graduated magna cum laude. Dr. Lai continued her education at Columbia University's College of Dental Medicine, where she earned her Doctoral degree in Dental Surgery (D.D.S), graduating as one of the top students in her class and the recipient of the Outstanding Achievements in Orthodontics award given by the American Association of Orthodontists. With her desire to combine art and science and to help people achieve healthy, long-lasting, and attractive smiles, Dr. Lai went on to complete a 3-year orthodontic residency at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, receiving her certificate in orthodontics and a Master's degree in dental science. Throughout her training, Dr. Lai was involved in research, helping to advance the field of dentistry and orthodontics.
Dr. Lai regularly attends conferences and meetings in order to remain up-to-date with the most current methods and technologies. Among her many honors, Dr. Lai is board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics, signifying her ability to deliver quality care. She is also a member of several prestigious organizations such as the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, and New York State Dental Association. Dr. Lai was selected by the Consumer's Research Council of America in 2010 as the recipient of the "America's Top Dentist" award.
Outside of orthodontics, Dr. Lai is a gifted musician and a great tennis player. Dr. Lai started taking piano and violin lessons since she was 5 years old. She then attended the Pre-College program at The Juilliard School for 6 years, which gave her the proficiency to win several competitions and perform at many concerts/recitals throughout her education and career. It was also her musical training and her love for music and art that shaped Dr. Lai into a detailed-oriented person who has great appreciation for beauty. Combining art and science, Dr. Lai enjoys delivering beautiful and healthy smiles to her patients.
